At Enermodal, we like to
put our values to work on the job and in our community.
In the Community
Green Tours
We believe that the more the public knows about energy
and resource efficient buildings, the better. From conducting
tours of our green buildings with high school and university
students to giving talks at industry conferences, our team
members enjoy sharing their knowledge of green buildings
with others.

Enermodal has welcomed hundreds of visitors to its new LEED
Platinum candidate office, A Grander View, which is predicted
to be the most energy efficient office in Canada. The public
received a preview of the three-storey corporate headquarters
in September 2009 as part of Doors Open Waterloo.

Giving Back
Enermodal enjoys being part of our community by supporting
a variety of non-profit organizations, particularly those
that align with our green values. One way we fundraise for
these organizations is through our annual Green Games where
employees and their guests play games and participate in
a silent auction. The local chapter of
Engineers Without Borders and
Evergreen (an organization that plants trees and vegetation
in school yards).

As mechanical engineers with a firm hands-on knowledge
of building systems, Enermodal volunteers with Habitat for
Humanity to construct local homes and as sustainability

In the Office
Learning
Besides involving the community with green buildings,
members of Enermodal’s team learn from each other and apply
that knowledge on the job and in our office.
At Enermodal’s annual internal conference local professors, environmental experts, and Enermodal’s
own leaders conduct seminars to expand Enermodal’s understanding
of green buildings and how our work fits into the larger
sustainability movement.

Enermodal's conference - From the
Ground Up
In order to continue to learn from our own projects and
how these buildings perform over time, the Enermodal team
takes an annual, self-guided bus tour - called Greenapalooza
- to some of our buildings in southern Ontario.

Office Environment
In keeping with our commitment to sustainability at our
workplace, Enermodal began construction on what will be
Canada’s most energy efficient office building and our
new headquarters in Kitchener. The entire Enermodal team
from Kitchener, Calgary, Denver, and Toronto joined in celebrating
the groundbreaking for the new building set to be complete
in August 2009.

headquarters in Kitchener
Early in 2009, Enermodal held an open house for
Enermodal Toronto’s new LEED Platinum candidate office space
in the historic Balfour Building on the corner of Spadina
and Adelaide. Guests learned about the special features
and products that made this office sustainable while sampling
“green” treats from some of Enermodal’s own building projects,
including
Fifth Town Cheese Co.,
Stratus Vineyards, and
Southbrook Vineyards. Once certified, Enermodal Toronto’s
office will be the first Platinum project in Toronto.
