Green Master Planning
|
Enermodal is actively involved in
the development of green master plans and policies for
campuses and multi-building developments.
Overall Site Planning
In general, green master planning encompasses such
issues as landscaping, site development, and energy
efficiency targets. Resource efficiency baseline
targets, transportation strategies, storm and wastewater
treatment, low-impact operations, and maintenance
policies, as well as community energy initiatives can
also be covered in planning stages. Master planning
should involve the setting of goals for minimum levels
of energy and water efficiency, construction waste
diversion, and overall environmental performance (e.g. a
LEED Gold rating).
Our Services
- defining sustainable design objectives,
principles and concepts
- developing decision-making metrics based on
guiding principles, motifs, and motivators
(optics, fiscal responsibility, environmental
stewardship)
- preparing and participating in integrated
design workshop
- preparing sustainable design concept
documents to guide the master plan
Building Design Guidelines
Enermodal works with project planning teams to develop
goals and targets related to building energy efficiency.
This includes energy-efficient design and equipment
guidelines as well as high level estimates of economic
performance based on sophisticated computer modelling.
This can include the investigation of alternative energy
systems such as cogeneration or renewable energy
technologies.
LEED Certification
The LEED Green Building Rating System was developed
initially for new commercial buildings. Recently the US
and Canadian Green Building Councils have undertaken the
development of a Campus and Multi-building Application
Guide. This guide will provide clarifications for a
number of LEED credit requirements often viewed as
problematic from a LEED perspective. Enermodal has been
asked to serve on the review panel for the Canadian
handbook and was instrumental in the development of its
framework and guiding principles.
We have successfully developed a number of sustainable
“guiding principles” for master planned projects where
LEED is either an option or a minimum requirement. In
addition, Enermodal can suggest a list of LEED points
applicable to buildings located within a master plan
that will help to attain a targeted LEED certification
cost effectively.
